Our Great Bike Skills With J.S

This morning J.S, a bike teacher was teaching us about what to do and what to wear while you’re on a bike. First he taught us about how was to stand out and be visible. When you’re on the road riding a bike you need to visible, you need to wear bright clothes to be safe or a bright vest that other people wear when on duty crossing or mailing. That was the first thing we learnt.

The second thing we learned about was to check our bike and our clothing. When you’re on a bike you need to wear pants that do not get caught into the chain or wheel of your bike, that can really hurt yourself. He kept on talking about our clothing and our bikes so that we can be safe on our bikes.

The third thing he talked about was reflectors on your bike. You need to make sure that you have a red reflector at the back of your seat. That reflector is the most important reflector on bike. When you’re on the road you need that reflector so that the cars behind and see you from behind. After talking about reflectors, he asked a couple of questions about that and we gave really good answers. And also he taught us the 4 bike checks. 1-brakes, 2-wheels, 3-bolts, and the fourth-reflectors.

Finally the last thing he taught us about was how to wear your helmet. On your helmet you need to adjust the back of your helmet so that your helmet can stay on your head for as long as you want. Second was to check the front of your helmet, two fingers on your eyebrow touching your helmet means your helmet is alright. Third was to check the ‘Y’s’. The ‘Y’ on your where your ears are means you’re safe, when it has a ‘V’ it means you’re not safe so we needed to make sure of that. And lastly, we had to check if you have clipped your helmet on. It’s safe when you’ve clipped it on and you are be able to fit 1 or 2 fingers under your chin. He kept on talking about the helmets till we went on to when we were supposed to be riding the bikes. He told us our bike riding is at 12:15. At the end of our first session, he said thank you, goodbye, and walked off. We still had maybe 1 or 2 lessons left, but the first lesson we had was amazing.
